The Circus is Coming to Town

Posted on Sun Sep 13th, 2020 @ 2:56am by Skyplex Administration Scarlett Wilson & Security Johannah "Mack" Shepard

Mission: This Week's Special
Location: Scarlett's Office or Mack's Office
Timeline: TBD

Scarlett stepped out of the lift onto Deck 6 with her newly purchased bra wrapped securely in a bag emblazoned with the easily identified logo for Ms. Lacy's Unmentionables. She quickly turned the corner into the security office.

"I need to see Chief Shepard. It's very important." Scarlett said to the officer working the front desk.

"Yes, ma'am," the Lead Constable at the desk said. "Just a moment." The woman waved Mack from her desk computer. A response came and a moment later Mack appeared from her office.

"Hi, Boss," Mack said. "What can I do for you?"

Scarlett walked around the front counter and headed straight to Mack's office. "We need to talk. I just found out something accidentally that will impact a lot of our work for the next week. Let's step inside." she said indicating they should move out of the common area.

"Sure," Mack said. "Follow me." She led the way back to her office and offered Scarlett a seat. "Coffee? Tea? Glass of water? Anything much more complicated than that you're probably out of luck."

Scarlett took the seat almost fidgetting with nervous energy. "Ok, I just found out that a major dignitary from the Alliance Commerce Committee is on their way here. I dont have much in specific details, but they are supposed to arrive in 35 hours. I need you to put together your best groups, squad, whatever you call it, to assure the safety of this Minister of Parliament during their stay here for the next week. I want you personally take charge of their safety. No idea why they are coming here, but its supposed to be a surprise visit. But we got a day to get ready." Scarlett babbled out rapidly.

Mack sighed. "That's not how this works," she said. "I can't 'put together a squad' and call it a day. Sure, I can put together a detail, but then I need to have that detail sit on the minister and hold them in the airlock until I'm given an itinerary so I can prepare each location in advance. This is a Federal matter. Shouldn't Alice be handling it? I mean, I can put a team on the minister, but they'll be largely ineffective if I don't have an itinerary so I can do advance work."

Scarlett just smiled and shook her head. "I have no idea what an itinerary for this Minister is going to be. Technically, I'm not even supposed to know that he is coming here. I don't think they are trying to keep a low profile, but for some reason this visit hasn't been officially announced. And that puts us, meaning heavily 'you' in the unfortunate position of keeping a high ranking VIP safe on the station with no idea what will be required of you. I wish I could tell you more, but we need to plan to have necessary resources available to accommodate the minister. I'm sure they will have their own idea of what they want to do for their visit, I'm just trying to give you a heads up that its going to get a bit frenetic in 34 hours and 27 minutes approximately."

"Lovely," Mack said. "I guess I'll check with Alice and see what he knows and then we'll coordinate on protection operations. You'll let me know if you learn anything more?"

"Trust me, I've got my entire staff pulling reports and papers on any subject we can dream of. I hate surprises." Scarlett replied as reassuringly as possible.

"You and me both," Mack said. "You and me both."

Why couldn't anything ever be easy?
