Mission: Bright and Shiny things
Location: Near by in the Black
Timeline: Following Preparing for the Flood

The strobe of the navigational lights was almost indistinguishable among the stars in the black, but the quarter mile long form of the deep space hauler began to reflect the glow of the system's Red Sun. It had been on a gradual burn for the last day to slow its momentum down for entry into the greater orbit of Greenleaf.

The blonde woman in the co-pilot seat toggled the cortex while the pilot monitored the trajectory of the massive ship.

"Skyplex Control, this is Blue Horizon, preparing for entry into docking lanes."

The voice crackled back over the comm. "Blue Horizon, Welcome. We have been eager anticipating your arrival. Local traffic has been suspended to clear the shipping lanes for your approach. Come to 3421.81 at the outer beacon."

A crewman handed the co-pilot a quick note. "Copy that Skyplex control. We are maneuvering to the vector. Please advise your administrator that we have passengers that will need to meet with her."

Minutes passed as the lumbering ship drew ever closer. Auxiliary and maintenance ships whirled about the lower spire of the Skyplex making hurried preparations.

"Blue Horizon, we have you on visual. You are cleared for docking at the lower gangway. The Dockmaster will be on hand when you arrive." the comm announed.

"Understood Skyplex. See you in a few minutes." the copilot responded.

"Greenleaf Skyplex welcomes you!" The voice at control signed off.

The co-pilot toggled off the cortex. "We are cleared for approach. It's been a long trip."

"Well just don't screw it up by crashing us into that thing." the pilot shot back.

"Me? You want me to perfom the docking?!" the copilot asked excitedly.

"You've put in your hours. Seems overdue you run this one." the pilot said with a large smile.

"Copy that sir! Nothing to worry about. Straight in by the numbers!" the copilot replied, almost bouncing with excitement.

The pilot chuckled to himself. "Let Ms. Hart know we are arriving shortly and the Administrator will be waiting for her."

---

Juni Hart switched channels, content that the docking process was underway. Her personal cortex beeped as the message came through from the crew.

Why would they assume she wasn’t listening in? Yu Bun Duh.*

She was hoping the administrator was going to be amenable, capable, and appreciated the benefits the hauler was bringing to the Skyplex. It wasn’t just the goods on board, but the increased footfall from the traders gathering that would add value.

Handled properly, managing the lottery for the supplies, and any accompanying trouble, the hauler’s arrival was a win-win for all concerned. Handled badly, and Juni herself would need to be involved – when she had far more important things to attend to.

OOC: * Stupid
