Mission: Opening Shop
Location: Customs Checkpoint
Timeline: Current

Lt Col Snow Baxter stood opposite the main customs checkpoint and watched the young woman do her job, and she did it well. Watching the people show their id's he heard the rumble of well timed boots, along with the uncoordinated footsteps of the boots their mates wore. Now was the point he'd find out how unflappable the customs woman was. 20 males, 29 females and 12 girls under the age of 3 and 11 boys under the age of 5. Total incoming 72. All of the man wore the standard CDF uniforms and all but the handlers carried the same weapons he carried, the handlers, lead their companions on their leashes, but wore the same weapons except for the rifles. All of the women were mated, so they wore the black and silver gown, matching boots, a mouth and nose covering, and their eyes covered by the hood attached to the gown. The female children were dressed in outfits, of the same style but of black and pink, while the male children were wearing all black, trousers, shirts, gloves and boots, their heads uncovered.

Oksanna could see the crowd moving through the ring towards her station. Scarlett had mentioned this group would be arriving, actually seeing it was a whole other matter. The uniformity was odd. The station had long been accustom to visitors and residents from worlds and moons all over the quadrant, it made for a vibrant tapestry of folk from all varieties of origins in garb that was even more assorted. Oksanna thought back to the arrival of Sapphire earlier. Her multi toned bursts of color in both hair and personality was a stark contrast to this group. The CDF, whoever they were, men were fairly easy to process. They didnt talk much. They had their Identification and looked almost exactly like their Cards showed. The women... this was going to take a while. As the first masked and shrouded woman approached Oksanna tried her usual approach.

"Welcome to Greenleaf Skyplex! If I could have your IDent card please." she said holding out her had to recieve the woman's card.

The woman kept still the male closest to her handed over the card, the photo contained the woman's full face and hair without the mouth and nose mask and without the hood. Only her eyes flickered in the customs woman's direction.

Oksanna took the IDent card from the man with a aprising look. "Uh... thanks." she said to the man as she plugged the card into its reader. "I am required to verify the identity on the card visually. Would you please remove your mask." she said trying to remain cheerful as she typed codes into her console.

The woman glanced at the male and with his nod did as the other woman asked. But still didn't offer anything verbal.

Oksanna looked at the woman's face, clearly a match to the card. The behaviour was unsettling. She typed some more codes into her console. "Thank you. We are just trying to keep you safe. If you were in trouble you would absolutely receive our protection. Please enjoy your stay on the Skyplex. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you settle in." she said with a reassuring smile and then clanged and the man. She sent the immigration file with her notes to the Alliance center in the Core. She handed the Ident card back to the woman. "Enjoy your stay with us. "

The next woman stepped up and automatically removed her mask when the male next to her sorted the cards he had in his hands, but instead of keeping them, he handed all twelve across to Oksanna. He like all the males had gone through, but only a few remained with the woman and the kids, the supplies they had brought with them were still being brought from the ship, along with the dogs and Teresina's companions. He hoped there was another way of unloading the weapons.

Oksanna took the card and slid it into her viewer, then looked at the woman. They matched, but this was unnerving. She was going to need a stiff drink and someone to vent on later. Scarlett came to mind. The man handed her the 12 IDent Cards. She looked at him quizically. "I am sorry, sir, but regulations require I receive each card from each applicant for entry. I would like each of them to state their names and respond to questions too if that is not a problem for you." A minor amount of contempt crept into her voice.

Lt Col Snow Baxter stepped in. He introduced himself. "Customs Officer Petrovich, I'm Lt Colonel Snow Baxter, 2nd in charge of the Coolac Defence Force assigned to the Green Plex to enhance the security. Anyone of our women wearing black and silver have been mated and therefore most of them do what their mates, the male CDF members want. The women who aren't talking have their mates already on the station. Those women have an armed escort until they are in the custody of their mates. I understand you have your rules, but if you were to contact the Administrator, I'm sure we can quickly sort this out."

Oksanna smiled politely at the Lt. Colonel. "Thank you sir. I appreciate your explanation. Unfortunately, I am an agent for Alliance Immigration, and the station Administrator does not have jurisdiction over folks coming on and off the station. I am under direction from the Alliance Immigration Service on Osiris and need to hold to protocol for filing entry and exit form this port. If you would allow me to complete my interview with these applicants, I would greatly appreciate it."

"Uakina o kanohi me te whakautu ki nga paatai a te wahine." Snow announced and the masks came off.

Whatever he said, Oksanna was looking at faces, and that was an improvement. The notion of all these people requiring permission to show themselves or use their own voices was beyond her imagination. She asked for the woman's name. Getting a response did not make her fell any better. The reaction was cold and emotionless. She typed notes into the file and reluctantly sent the file to Immigration control. The woman accepted her card back, tied up her mask and moved on. Oksanna processed the next 11 women and their children. When the last one finally cleared immigration she watched the group march off shaking her head. There was something much deeper going on here, she was convinced. Her reservations had been logged with The Immigration Service on Osiris, if they found merit they would issue orders tot he Marshal and possibly dispatch special agents to investigate. She said a small prayer for the all the families that had come through as she folded up her booth. She needed a drink.

"Thank you for your help." Snow stated. Walking away as the handlers who had been through earlier, came through again with their dogs, and six more came through lugging the giant cage which remained covered. Thankfully there was no noise coming from the giant cage.
